ROWLING HITS OUT AS BOSS OF RAPE CRISIS CENTRE QUITS

AUTHOR JK Rowling has hit out after the boss of a rape crisis centre quit over a failure protect women-only spaces.

Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre (ERCC) chief executive Mridul Wadhwa stood down after being found to have behaved unprofessionally while heading the organisation.

Rape Crisis Scotland (RCS), which commissioned the report, has paused new referrals to the centre after finding it had not put survivors first or adhered to national standards.

An independent consultant also found Wadhwa "did not understand the limits of her authority". The ERCC board announced the departure of Wadhwa, who is transgender, yesterday morning.
