School's safety alert over missing monkey

SAFETY fears over an escaped monkey saw primary schoolkids kept inside at playtime.

The Japanese macaque remains at large in the Kincraig area, near Aviemore, after finding a way out of its enclosure at the weekend.

The primate is believed to have been spooked by a fight with a rival during breeding season at the Highland Wildlife Park.

He was spotted by residents swinging off garden fences and munching on a bird feeder on Sunday morning.
