ScotRail hit by £330k taxi bill

SCOTRAIL has shelled out £330,000 on taxis to take passengers home after services were cancelled.

The most expensive fare was a £798 ride from Wick to Inverness in an eight-seater.

Scottish Lib Dem transport spokesperson Jill Reilly said: "The Scottish Government must work with ScotRail to cut down their reliance on expensive and inefficient replacement transport services and deliver the rail service that taxpayers and travellers pay for." ScotRail, after years of bad publicity over punctuality and the cost of train services, was taken into public hands in 2022.
