THE spectacular North Coast 500 has been named the top driving route in the UK.
Starting from Inverness, the road through the Highlands featuring Bealach Na Ba - came out top in a national vote, ahead of Cheddar Gorge in Somerset and Snake Pass in Derbyshire.
Other highly rated routes in the poll included Kendal to Keswick, in the Lake District, and Snowdonia's Llanberis Pass.
The research was carried out by National Geographic to launch season 11 of its Car SOS show, which starts tonight.
