SCOTT McTOMINAY can keep proving Manchester United wrong and lead Italy-inspired Scotland to a priceless first top-pot win in the Nations League.
Steve Clarke's talisman and club-mate Billy Gilmour are flying high at the summit of the Serie A table having made their moves to Napoli.
McTominay, who became a darling of the Tartan Army during his time at United, has made a big impression after the transfer from Old Trafford.
Alan Hutton, who won 50 caps, isn't surprised as he feels the likes of Gilmour and Bologna's Lewis Ferguson also have the perfect attributes for the Italian challenge.
McTominay has been a revelation and scored his third Napoli goal in the 1-1 weekend draw with Inter Milan which kept his team top of the table.
Hutton believes he will want to keep showing his worth and as he said: "It will have hurt him leaving Manchester United. United are one of the biggest teams in the world.
"He wanted to stay and show his worth but now he's shown everybody and now people are talking about him and suggesting that it was a mistake to let him go.
"Perhaps United will regret it but it's in the rearview mirror now.
"He will have a burning desire to show everyone at United it was a mistake to let him go.
"That will always be there for a player and he probably felt that he deserved to get more of a chance.
"He made cameo performances but he was great when he played, he scored important goals. He probably felt that he warranted an opportunity for more playing time and he didn't get it.
