Pittodrie new boy Kristers admits that he dreamed of starring in the UK and says he will suit Scottish game
SCOTT BURNS

ABERDEEN new boy Kristers Tobers admits it is a dream come true to play in British football.

The all-action defender feels his game is tailor-made for our game and the new £700,000 signing from Grasshoppers aims to show it at Pittodrie. The Latvia captain was a key January target for Jimmy Thelin as the Dons boss wanted to strengthen his backline and build a team in his trademark style.

Tobers, who will be key to that, said: "It was my dream as a player. Everybody said with my playing style that English football could be my type of football.

"From the presentation with the coaching staff and how they introduced me, it felt like this is the right place for me to be. Somehow in my heart I felt this is the right decision for me to go now in the winter period.

"The coach has said what my capabilities are and how I play through the lines with my through balls."

The Dons hope Tobers will get his work permit quickly and can add a bit of steel to an Aberdeen defence that badly needs reinforced.
