Design students from the University of the Arts London are working with leading supermarkets on the project. It comes a week after figures released by the British Retail Consortium showed thefts up 50% to 16million cases a year. A report on the project told how customers will “appear as a playful avatar overlay on the CCTV screen, transforming routine surveillance into a game-like experience that’s culturally sensitive and seeks to mitigate bias.”
