MORE than a million kilos of food has been chucked out at the Houses of Parliament in the past six years, figures show.
Some 1.23 metric tonnes of taxpayer-subsidised grub for MPs has ended up in bins, equivalent to 2.6million dishes.
Last year, Commons officials recorded 148,230kg of food waste, down from 152,688kg in 2020 and 258,869kg in 2019.
And waste in the three previous years totalled 677,510kg, according to a Freedom of Information request.
Campaigner Abby Fornals, from WasteNotWantNot, branded it “disgusting”, adding: “They are shameless.
