TELLY cop Stephen Tompkinson left a drunken man with "traumatic brain injuries" after punching him outside his house at 5.30am, a jury heard.
The DCI Banks star went out in his pyjamas to tell Karl Poole and his pal to "move on" as he thought they might wake his wife and her son.
Tompkinson, 57, who also starred in Ballykissangel, slapped Mr Poole before punching him, causing him to fall and hit his head, Newcastle Crown Court was told.
But instead of calling an ambulance, it is alleged Tompkinson took video footage on his phone of Mr Poole, who was wearing just his underpants.
Michael Bunch, prosecuting, said Mr Poole and friend Andrew Hall were "drunk and carrying on" after boozing into the early hours in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside.
Afterwards, the actor tried to "deflect blame for his wholly unjustified aggressive action" A neighbour who saw what happened was so concerned she asked her husband to call for an ambulance, the court heard.
Tompkinson did, however, phone police to report the men for making a noise.
He denies unlawfully inflicting grievous bodily harm in May 2021.
The trial continues.
