AMBER Heard will pay former husband Johnny Depp $1 million (&pound;820,000) in a settlement of their defamation suit.
The actress, 36, said the move was "not an act of concession", stressing there are "no restrictions or gags with respect to my voice moving forward".
In June, a jury in Virginia, US, mostly sided with Mr Depp, 59, finding that Ms Heard had defamed him in an article in which she called herself a victim of abuse. But the jury also ruled Depp, 59, had defamed Heard in a statement accusing her of perpetrating a "hoax".
She was ordered to pay Depp &pound;8.2m in compensatory damages and &pound;4.1m punitive damages, in which was later reduced to &pound;280,000.
Heard was awarded &pound;1.64m in compensatory damages. The pair's lawyers have now thrashed&nbsp;out a deal which saw her pay Depp &pound;820,000 to put an end to the case.
Announcing the development on Instagram, Heard wrote: "I defended my truth and in doing so my life as I knew it was destroyed. The vilification I have faced on social media is an amplified version of&nbsp;the ways in which women are re-victimised when they come forward."
Lawyers for Depp responded: "We are pleased to formally close the door on this painful chapter for Mr Depp."
