DRIVERS overpaying on their car loans has the potential to be "on par" with the PPI scandal, an expert has said.
Millions of claims for compensation could be made by drivers who had loans between 2007 and 2021.
The UK's financial regulator is currently reviewing whether people could be owed compensation for being charged too much for car finance.
Simon Evans, boss of trade group the Consumer Redress Association, said the scale may be "on par" with PPI.
He added: "What we are seeing through firms who are engaging with consumers is they have had two or three cars in that period and all of those qualify for a claim."
Mr Evans said it is likely to be a "headache" for firms.
