CALLS are growing for "action" to be taken on energy bills after forecasts show they're set to rise again in January.Energy consultancy Cornwall Insight said it expects Ofgem to reveal on Friday that the typical bill will rise by 1% to £1,736 from £1,717 from January 1.The group warned "prices will be staying relatively high" throughout winter. Options such as social tariffs, adjustments to price caps, benefit restructuring or other targeted support for vulnerable households "must be seriously considered", it added. The stark warning means household hopes for energy bills to edge lower in the New Year are set to be dashed.Millions of pensioners are also facing a winter with less support, after the Government decided to scrap winter fuel payments for those who do not receive pension credits or other benefits.Cornwall Insight's principal consultant Craig Lowrey said: "While we may have seen this 1 coming, the news that prices e will not drop from the rises in o the autumn will still be disappointing to many as we move into the colder months."
