The British Veterinary Association issued the alert after the respiratory disease swept the US.
Hundreds of dogs have been struck down by the virus and concerns are&nbsp;growing that it could spread to the UK.
Dr Elizabeth Mullineaux, of the British Veterinary Association, said: "As a precaution, UK dog owners who are worried about any respiratory illness should make sure that their pets' vaccinations are up to date, including for kennel cough." But vaccinated dogs are also dying unexpectedly.
Texas vet Dr Kate Aicher added: "You don't expect young, vaccinated, healthy dogs to die."
