THE owner of a runaway rhea has warned the public not to try to catch him - because he can "kick very hard".
Stephen Alleyne said of the flightless bird called Chris, who can run at 40mph and has tormented two counties: "It's best to leave him alone." The beast has been on the loose for four months since fleeing his field when it flooded.
Rising water allowed Chris to swim to freedom across a river in Diss, Norfolk, and he spent a month nearby dodging efforts to snare him.

Since then Chris has travelled to neighbouring Suffolk where he has been spotted in the Waveney Valley area near the villages of Mendlesham, Yaxley, Wetheringsett and Bedingfield.
Rheas are distant relatives of larger ostriches and can grow to 5.5ft in height.
Stephen wants the public to tip him off about sightings - but he warned the consequences of an amateur trying to trap Chris could be dire.
He said: "Be aware that they can kick very hard.
"We have a catching net in the van ready if someone rings us to say that, 'We've got him cornered in the garden or in a small paddock."
