REIGNING champion Pecco Bagnaia made the perfect start to his title defence as he held off Maverick Vinales to double up in Portugal.
After an historic win in the first- ever sprint race on Saturday, the Italian did it again in yesterday’s main attraction at the Algarve International Circuit as Marc Marquez crashed out in a dramatic smash with home hero Miguel Oliveira.
“We were so on the limit compared to Saturday, it was very tough,” said Bagnaia, who beat Vinales to the line by 0.687secs.
