The Newcastle boss had a dig at critics - pointing to the club's accelerated journey from relegation scraps to Champions League in just two years.
After the 2-1 Champions League loss to AC Milan on Wednesday, some observers accused Newcastle of being naive and too open as they chased a win instead of trying to secure a draw to qualify for the Europa League.
But Howe hit back and told a Press gathering: "The wisest man is one who doesn't have to make any decisions. In here there are a lot of tactical brains." He added:
"Kevin Keegan built his team here with an attacking philosophy and that's the team I want, too. I cannot go back on that.
