"SPINELESS" killers like Thomas Cashman will be forced to attend their sentencing hearings, Justice Secretary Dominic Raab pledged.
Cashman, 34, refused to face the family of nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel as he was jailed for life for her murder.
The drug gang enforcer would not enter the dock at Manchester Crown Court, despite a judge's order.
He was sentenced in his absence to 42 years in prison for the bungled hit in Liverpool.
Yesterday, Mr Raab said: "Spineless criminals like Cashman who hide from their sentencing prolong the suffering of victims and their families. As I have already made clear, I plan to change the law to compel offenders to face up to their actions so victims can see the justice they deserve being served."&nbsp;
Judges could get the power to impose longer jail sentences on criminals who refuse to appear.
In December last year Jordan McSweeney refused to attend his sentencing for the murder of law graduate Zara Aleena in London.
Her family held talks with Mr Raab afterwards and pushed for the change to prevent others suffering as they had.
