THE cricketing world is in mourning after England ace Graham Thorpe died aged 55.The dad-of-four played 100 Tests between 1993 and 2005, as well as 82 one-day internationals.Nicknamed "Thorpey" by his team-mates, the stylish left-handed batter scored 6,744 Test runs for England, including 16 centuries.He also scored a century on his first Ashes appearance.Michael Vaughan, who skippered Thorpe towards the end of his Test career, wrote on X: "RIP Thorpey.Thanks for all the advice throughout my career, you were a great player and a brilliant team-mate. You have gone far too young but you leave as an England cricket legend." England opener Ben Duckett added: "Heartbreaking. He was one of my heroes growing up and I was fortunate to work with him." In May the Professional Cricketers' Association revealed Thorpe had fallen seriously ill with an unclear diagnosis. His cause of death has not yet been revealed.Thorpe is survived by his second wife Amanda, whom he married in 2007, and four children, Henry, Amelia, Kitty and Emma.
