Tough cookie Matt can tame 'brute' of a course

MATT FITZPATRICK branded Oak Hill "a brute of a golf course" before bidding to become the first English winner of the US PGA for more than a century.

But the US Open champion said he "enjoys" the challenge of tough courses and he is ready to show his Sheffield steel and grind out another Major win.

Oak Hill was renamed Choke Hill after the US Ryder Cup team collapsed in the Sunday singles to hand victory to Europe in 1995.

Cool May temperatures and the chance of frost this morning threaten to add to the challenge of the par-70 East Course this year.
