South Yorkshire Police are investigating after footage showed a supporter making monkey gestures at him.
The midfielder, 27, was targeted as he tried to retrieve the ball from behind the touchline during his side's 2-1 victory at Hillsborough on Saturday.
He was left visibly upset and&nbsp;informed referee Anthony Backhouse immediately.

Following the match, Palmer hit out on X: "Racism is a disgrace... it has no place in the world, let alone football.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police added: "We will be working&nbsp;alongside the clubs and West Midlands Police to understand the circumstances and identify those involved."
