LOCALS in a British coastal town were sent a great white shark alert - meant for a place with the same name some 12,000 miles away.
An email was pinged to people who had set up Google alerts for Fortrose in the Scottish Highlands.
It warned them of the presence of a giant sea predator, with the appeal, by cage diving firm Shark Experience, urging residents to take to the beaches in search of a tag that had been shed from a great white.
Luckily before residents in the Scots town could try to lend their help, the tag was found on the shores of a New Zealand town has also named Fortrose. A Shark Experience spokesman said: "A big thank you to everyone who helped with the hunt for the shark tag at Fortrose.
"It is now on its way to the science guys."
