GARY Lineker spent hours learning his words for a cameo in Ted Lasso - only to be given an autocue.
The former England ace teamed up with Thierry Henry to feature in the hit spoof football comedy starring Jason Sudeikis, 47.
Gary and ex-Arsenal star Henry learnt their lines but were gobsmacked when they discovered they'd been wasting their time. Gary, 62, said: "I did a couple of seasons with Ted Lasso, both with Thierry. And the first one we did, we had loads of lines to learn.
"So we were chatting and thought we would learn all our lines, loads of them, and we were running them by each other for hours.
"And then we went to the thing and it was all there, all on autocue written on big letters around the room.
"You could read all our words. We'd spent five hours! And then we got there and they said, 'Oh, we thought we might help you because you're not actors.
"And we went, 'Now you tell us!' And Thierry's gone, 'We could have talked about the football! He thinks about it, watches it all the time!"
Gary said on his Match Of The Day podcast that he doesn't know anyone who obsesses about football more than Thierry, 45.
He added: "He absolutely lives for the game.
"He loves it and talks about it all the time."
