Boffins have finally revealed the identity of the 180ft Cerne Abbas Giant, who has been proudly displaying his manhood for hundreds of years.
Experts reckon it depicts Greek demi-god Hercules and was created to mark a muster station for West Saxon armies.
University of Oxford researchers claim his looming presence provided the back-drop for where troops would gather, before they tried to fend off the Vikings.
Historian Dr Helen Gittos, who studied the Dorset area to come to the conclusion, said: "Given the characterisation of Hercules as a model of masculinity, a giant image of him would have made an ideal backdrop for a muster site."&nbsp;
