VIKING dogs are finally being allowed to invade Britain 1,000 years on.The Kennel Club has agreed to allow the Icelandic sheepdog to join the registry of pedigree breeds.The pooches the marauding Vikings' best friends 10 centuries ago will become the UK's 224th officially recognised pedigree.The honour which will be bestowed in April - will allow them to go for glory at Crufts in 2026.There are currently only around 20 of the sheepdogs in the UK.A spokesman for The Kennel Club said: "The Icelandic sheepdog is Iceland's native breed of dog."It is thought to be descended from the dogs brought to Iceland by Viking settlers to herd livestock, including the Icelandic horse."
