BOB Dylan has apologised to fans after using a machine to sign copies of his new book.
The singer-songwriter's limited edition versions of The Philosophy Of Modern Song sold for nearly &pound;500 and were advertised as "hand-signed."&nbsp;
But they were later found to have been autographed using an&nbsp;"autopen" which replicated his signature.
The 81-year-old blamed "vertigo" and "Covid" for preventing him signing from the 900 books by hand. In a statement posted on Facebook, Dylan said: "In 2019 I had a bad case of vertigo and it continued into the pandemic years.
"So, during the pandemic, it was impossible to sign anything and the vertigo didn't help. The&nbsp;idea of using an autopen was suggested to me along with the assurance that this kind of thing is done all the time' in the art and literary worlds.
"Using a machine was an error in judgement and I want to rectify it immediately."
Bosses at publishing company Simon and Schuster have acknowledged the blunder and have now offered refunds.
