"I'd never seen rain like it on Thursday," reported Nicholls.
"As the river bursts its banks,&nbsp;all the drainage in the village backs up and our bottom yard floods.
"It's just sheer volume of water. It's happened once before - it's about a 10-to-15-year event - and nothing can cope.
"We got to the horses at 10.30&nbsp;last night and they were floating, with water up to their knees.
"We got them out, dried them off and moved them for the night. It was a drama, but everyone's OK."
Nicholls reported everything to be back to normal after the&nbsp;water levels subsided when the downpours relented during the early hours of yesterday morning.
"It's all good this morning," he added. "First thing, the water had gone - it's like someone pulls a plug and it all disappears."
