Sales of irons are down 28% as pressed-off Brits vote it the worst chore.
But more modern and easy-to-use steamer sales have risen Good 27%, according to Housekeeping magazine.
It also found women still do the lion's share of the household chores, with 80% of those asked claiming to doing "all or most" of the work.
The main reason given was "If you want a job done properly, do it yourself", suggesting Brit fellas are not up to scratch with the chores. A spokesman for the study said: "When the Good Housekeeping Institute opened in 1924, the then-new electric iron was among the first appliances to be tested. Now, however, it seems it's something many would like relegated to the past."
Good Housekeeping's Gaby Huddart added: "Our latest survey has highlighted some interesting and important consumer shifts - not least, the death of the iron.
"Women are continuing to carry the domestic load, with millennials feeling the biggest burden."&nbsp;
