Business minister Adolfo Urso had his title changed to "Ministro per le Imprese e il Made In Italy" in October.
But his own party the Brothers of Italy led by PM Giorgia Meloni - is planning a ban on English words used as part of the Italian language. Anyone caught flouting it could be fined up to &pound;87,000. Italian&nbsp;social media users were left in stitches.
One said: "Just as Meloni has set up a Ministry of 'Made in Italy'. Can you be more ridiculous? Will no one be able to appoint Minister Urso any more?"
Another added: "We have a 'Made in Italy' minister tho. Written in English." While the legislation restricts the use of all foreign languages it is particularly designed to drive out so-called "Anglomania".
