BOFFINS have declared vegetables are no longer superfoods.
Nutrient levels in greens have slumped since the mid-20th Century due to global warming, researchers warn.
Rises in carbon dioxide are said to have sent calcium in 100g of green beans plummeting from 65 to 37mg, a study by the University of Texas showed.
It also revealed vitamin A levels in asparagus have halved and broccoli now contains less iron.
Prateek Uniyal, from the International Food Policy Research Institute, said: "Because of climate change, iron and zinc have been dipping by 30 to 40% due to excessive rainfall, cold and physical damage."
Scientists are hoping a process called biofortification will raise the nutrient levels of veggies.
It involves genetically modifying crops to increase their nutritional contents.
The HarvestPlus organisation is working with more than 30 governments to have its biofortified foods planted by 10million farms across the world.
Jenny Walton, from HarvestPlus, said: "We're about 20 years into a 40-year programme. We're trying to revolutionise staple food systems."
