FURY has erupted after British Gas recorded a 900% profits boost amid the cost-of-living crisis.

It came after its parent company Centrica’s chief executive Chris O’Shea faced anger over his £4.5million pay packet earlier this year.

British Gas made £969m from January to June after the price cap was lifted – up from £98m on the same period the year before.

Overall Centrica made a profit of £6.5billion for the first six months of this year.
