But the case, unrelated to Madeleine's disappearance, was halted yesterday after Brueckner's lawyer Dr Sebastian Fuelscher had lay judge Britta ThielenDonckel removed due to posts about Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro.
The lawyer at the Braunschweig court Germany claimed messages, including "kill the devil" and "kill the b******" were "radical" and made her unsuitable to continue.
Brueckner is serving a seven-year sentence for raping a woman in the same Praia da Luz resort in Portugal from where Madeleine vanished. He has denied any involvement in her disappearance and the charges he is currently facing. The trial resumes next Friday.
