TRADITIONAL British beer sales are being dwarfed by lager.
The tipple has seen the biggest increase across all beer categories in the UK.
Latest figures show nearly seven in every 10 pints now sold in pubs is lager with sales rising almost 4% since 2016 to 69.5%.
That compares to bitter (15.4%), stout (8.3%), pale ale (5.2%) and mild (0.4%).
Paul Bolton, of industry experts CGA by NIQ, which did the study, said: "Lager as a category has grown its share of total beer thanks to the continued success of world lager, which has appealed to a wide audience.
"The lager category has been dominant for many years."
Pale ale and stout enjoyed slight increases due to the success of new releases by breweries, including Camden Town Brewery and BrewDog.
Mr Bolton added: "The biggest loser has been bitter. The continued hardships cask ale has suffered as its core audience is distracted away from the category, as well as the decline of smooth ale, have contributed to its struggles!"
