LIZ "Lettuce" Truss has been told to pay more than &pound;12,000 in a dispute over missing bathrobes, booze and slippers at a country pile.
The ex-PM - who resigned last year after a disastrous 49 days - was sent the bill by the Cabinet Office to cover items missing from the Chevening House estate in Kent.
She is said to have held a string of lavish parties there last August, with an insider saying: "Liz used Chevening as a mini No10, holding meetings with her inner circle&nbsp;that often turned into parties in the evening."
The source added that the Cabinet Office "objected to the idea that the taxpayer should foot the bill"&nbsp;
Ms Truss's spokesman said that she, "always paid for the costs of her personal guests"&nbsp;
But he insisted the "vast majority" of charges related to meetings with civil servants during her leadership campaign, which would be "inappropriate" for the MP to pay for due to Government rules.
He added: "She has therefore asked for this to be billed separately."
A Cabinet Office spokesman said it was "working closely with estate owners the Chevening Trust to ensure costs were paid.
