GORDON STRACHAN insists England must go on the attack if they are to become kings of Europe.
The Three Lions are bookies’ favourites to win Euro 2024 in Germany this summer.
Former Scotland star Strachan wants to see Gareth Southgate take the shackles off his team if they are to live up to their billing.
Southgate has earned a reputation for being a cautious manager who shies away from risk.
And the former Southampton and Scotland boss, who is now technical director at Dundee, says he needs to ditch his policy of playing two defensive midfielders because of the amount of attacking talent he has available.
Strachan said: “You look at the attacking talent and think, ‘This is a team that has to find a way to get all of these players functioning well together’.
“I think they should play with one holding midfielder. With the talent at Gareth Southgate’s disposal, England don’t need to play with two defensive midfield players.
