LLOYDS Bank profits are by&nbsp; soaring as it reaps the benefit of higher interest rates.
The UK's biggest mortgage lender said it had a &pound;1.9billion profit before tax for the last financial quarter, up from &pound;1.5billion during the same period last year.
It also received &pound;3.4billion in net interest income - the profit it earns from charging higher interest rates to borrowers sparking widespread anger on&nbsp;line. Interest rates currently stand at 5.25%.
William Chalmers, Lloyds' chief financial officer, said: "I think it's safe to say that, as a general matter, customers are adjusting to the times that we are in."&nbsp;
One online critic remarked ironically: "It is refreshing to see that even in a time of financial crisis, cost-of-living crisis and political crisis that the 'good guys' still come out on top."
