ONLINE daters create fake identities using AI so they can cheat on a partner or catch them cheating.
Researchers discovered a shocking 34% admitted creating a false profile - known as catfishing - with fake videos and pictures on dating apps and social media.
Those who admitted it said&nbsp;they were out to spy on their partner or ex-partner and also to have a fake ID so they could have flings themselves.
Only 10% said they did it to improve the chances of finding love.
Overall, 22% of online daters said they had been fooled by someone with a fake ID and gone on a date with them.
Lauren Hendry Parsons of ExpressVPN, which conducted&nbsp;the study, said: "There is an element of trust we have when talking to someone online.
"The growing sophistication of AI has threatened that trust."&nbsp;
