THE Ministry of Defence has lost almost &pound;1billion to fraudsters since 2010.
Bosses have been ripped off in nearly every aspect of spending, including buying weapons and planes and &pound;6million in fake expenses claims.
The biggest loss was &pound;600m on procurement of equipment since 2020. Overall, the lost cash could have paid for a dozen F-35 Lightning combat jets.
A senior civil servant blasted the MoD as a "soft touch for thieves and corrupt officials".
A Ministry of Defence spokesman said: "All cases are thoroughly investigated."
