WOMEN have totally lost trust in the police, a damning report suggests.
Nearly half of those in the past year who experienced or witnessed a crime chose not to report it.
This is because they did not believe it would be treated seriously.
It comes as findings showed police performance has hit rock bottom, with just 6% of offences leading to a suspect being charged.
A study by the Tony Blair Institute found problems with policing in England and Wales were broader than the institutional attitudes of sexism, racism and homophobia found in the Met and other forces.
Baroness Louise Casey of Blackstock, who spent a year investigating the Met, said the findings "speak to a fundamental rupture in the bond of trust between the police and the public".
She warned that the relationship is "at breaking point" and the decline in trust among women and black people in London may spread to the rest of the country.
She added that only "wholesale and radical reform" of and radical reform" of policing can restore trust and confidence.
The Home Office said: "The Home Secretary has been clear that she expects forces to restore confidence in policing.
"And we are providing the police with the tools they need to deliver for the public."
