ROYAL Mail could ditch Saturday deliveries of second-class letters in an overhaul of the postal service.Regulator Ofcom said it would keep first-class deliveries six days a week.Under the plans, second-class delivery times would remain unchanged at up to three working days.Royal Mail urged the Government and Ofcom to review its obligations, arguing that it is no longer cost-effective, given the decline in addressed letter post.Lindsey Fussell, of Ofcom, said: "This won't be a free pass for Royal Mail." The Royal Mail is currently obliged to deliver letters six days a week to any UK address for the price of a stamp.
