OSCAR DE LA HOYA promoted Canelo Alvarez for a decade -but the Golden Boy delivered the best pre-fight promotion this week for the Mexican when he's no longer in charge of his career.
This weekend Canelo puts his undisputed super-middleweight crown on the line against fellow Mexican Jaime Munguia in Las Vegas.
It's a fight that has not got pulses overly raised despite the fact it is two fighters from the central American country going at it on Cinco de Mayo weekend, a big holiday in their homeland.
Yet it was suddenly sparked into life after Canelo and De La Hoya - who now promotes Munguia - clashed at a fiery press conference.
This was not your usual set-up, fake rivalry to kick-start pay-per-view buys and sell whatever remaining tickets are at the box office.
