HUW Edwards "isn't expected back" at the BBC, according to colleagues who worked with the broadcaster's main news man.
The former anchor, 62, was suspended as the face of BBC News at Ten in the wake of claims made by the parents of a young person in a national newspaper surrounding alleged payment for inappropriate photographs.
After nearly two months off air, one of his senior BBC colleagues has said:&nbsp;"No one expects him to come back."
Some of Edwards' other closest ex-workmates say they have not heard from him in weeks.
Last September Edwards famously sprinted out of a barbershop near his south London home after being summoned to announce Queen Elizabeth II's death.
Sources say the Beeb is "weighing up" if it can reuse Edwards' historic broadcast on the&nbsp;12-month anniversary of her death.
Police found there was no criminal case to answer against the broadcaster, but Edwards is still facing a workplace investigation into whether he brought the BBC into disrepute.
The Beeb's inquiry is said to still be in the "factfinding stage", and Edwards is believed to be suspended on full pay.
