I DECIDED to test my boyfriend's commitment to me by pretending to be pregnant.

On Boxing Day I asked for a quiet word. He thought I was suggesting a quickie up in his mum's back bedroom and raced up the stairs like an excited kid.

But the minute I said the words: "Congratulations, you're going to be a dad," he flipped out.

Rather than congratulate me, he said I was selfish, irresponsible and stupid. Who else was I sleeping with? Why had the Pill failed? Why was I determined to "ruin" his life? I fled in tears. Even though I'm not pregnant, his reaction has devastated me.

We've been together for five years and he's always promised that we'll (eventually) get married and find a home of our own.
