RAPE investigations are being delayed as officers are being sent to police football matches, a watchdog found.The report by His Majesty's Inspector of Constabulary Michelle Skeer examined nine forces in a bid to improve rape and serious sexual offences (Rasso) inquiries.It stated: "In half the forces we inspected Rasso personnel are routinely diverted to support events such as football matches and music festivals." Making 14 recommendations, Mrs Skeer said "major changes are required" for improvements but forces face "high demand and limited resources".The proportion of rape suspects charged just 2.6% according to latest figures - is among the lowest on record, though it was queried by police chiefs last night.
