ROYAL Mail offices are stacked high with undelivered letters amid understaffing and huge workloads. 
Letters and parcels are being left at sorting offices as workers struggle to get their allocated mail out.
The backlog suggests Royal Mail is not always meeting its &ldquo;universal service obligation&rdquo; to deliver letters six days a week.
A source at a delivery office in the South West says extra bundles of mail are being divided between workers.
The source said: &ldquo;On top of your own delivery, you&rsquo;ve got another row and a bit to do. When it comes to a busy day,&nbsp;that is not necessarily being completed.

&ldquo;That is happening across the country.&rdquo;
The source added that it was a &ldquo;regular occurrence&rdquo; that postal workers fail to deliver their allocated letters and parcels.
As many as 53 bundles went undelivered on a busy day last month, with a total of 65 unsent last Wednesday and Thursday.
Royal Mail said it advertises vacancies for postal workers on its website.
