Josie Shanaham, 27, says her life has been transformed since she got Mars two years ago.
She suffers from bipolar and anxiety, and her pooch is considered an auxiliary aid, with the same rights as a guide dog. But college student Josie, who lives in a caravan, fears her home might not meet the strict new guidelines for owning the breed.
From December 31, XL bully dogs must be microchipped, and owners must keep them on a lead and muzzled in public. They must also be securely housed at home.
Josie, from Woodbury, Devon, said: "As far as we know he's the only fully-qualified American XL bully assistance dog in the country. He would never hurt anyone - even when smaller dogs attack, he doesn't retaliate at all."&nbsp;
