MARK WOOD says he will never compromise his raw pace - even if learning a new skill makes him more dangerous.

One of England's Edgbaston heroes believes he can maintain his lightning speed for longer periods and remains insistent that is his No.1 priority.

Wood clocked more than 90 miles per hour regularly during Tests at Trent Bridge and Edgbaston, and received his just rewards when blasting out five West Indies batters inside 21 deliveries in Birmingham as England completed a clean sweep.

One takeaway from that performance was his ability to reverse swing the ball, but the 34-year-old says it won't come at the cost of him bowling like the wind.

He said: "I'm in the team to bowl fast and make something happen. I don't want to be pigeon-holed as an enforcer all the time.
