CHANCELLOR Jeremy Hunt is set to demand that consumer watchdogs help drive down prices.
It comes after supermarkets, banks and utility firms were accused of using high inflation as a cover to rake in more profits, dubbed greedflation.
Mr Hunt will hold talks with energy, water and telecoms chiefs this week and ask them to review price rises.
A Treasury source said the Chancellor believes the watchdogs have a "key role" in helping to reduce inflation.
It comes as research found rocketing food prices have sparked a mental health crisis.&nbsp;
The soaring price of everyday groceries has worsened the mental health of one in four, the survey by Which? found.
Now the consumer champion is calling on MPs to urge supermarkets to do more to help consumers when they quiz grocery bosses in Parliament today.
