BRITAIN is to be hit by more strikes involving rail staff and junior doctors.
Drivers at 16 train companies last night announced a fresh wave of action in April.
It came on the day junior doctors overwhelmingly voted for more walkouts over pay.
Aslef members will bring the country to a standstill with a rolling programme of one-day walkouts between April 5 and 8.
Union bosses blasted the "tone-deaf" Government, which they said had not given drivers a pay rise for five years. April's walkouts will be the 21st month of action in the pay row.
Aslef general secretary Mick Whelan said ministers "do not want to resolve this dispute".
But the Rail Delivery Group said they "remain open to talks to find a solution".
The junior medics' walkout will be the 11th since last March.
The BMA's junior doctors committee co-chairs Dr Robert Laurenson and Dr Vivek Trivedi said the Government wrongly thought they would "give up".
