The work rate of the bots could allow at least 8.8m people - nearly a third of the workforce - to switch to a shorter working week by 2033, says the thinktank Autonomy.
It also found 28m workers (88% of the workforce) could have their hours cut by at least 10%.
Will Stronge, director of research at Autonomy, said: "Our offers a fresh perspective in debates around how AI can be utilised for good.
"A shorter working week is the most tangible way of ensuring that AI delivers research benefits to workers as well as companies. If AI is to be implemented fairly across the economy, it should usher in a new era of four-day working weeks for all!" Areas with the highest proportion of workers that could have four-day weeks include the City of London, Kensington and Chelsea in London and Wokingham, Berks.
The research suggested AI could see firms avoid having to lay off staff and prevent health issues from overworking.
The world's ever biggest four-day week pilot in the UK earlier this year involved 61 firms and 2,900 staff.
