The wintry blast is set to arrive in Scotland on Saturday before moving south. Mr Madden said: "We will see the colder conditions from the weekend gaining somewhat of a stronghold from the north, with an early widespread frost for many.
"And we will see further rain turning to snow across large parts of Scotland and into parts of Cumbria and&nbsp;northern England at times on Monday and into Tuesday.
"From around Wednesday onwards there is still the risk for this wintry weather to become more extensive into other parts of the country, including southern areas, as we progress towards Easter."
